The Meditation and Recitation of Amitabha Called "Embracing the Pure Land of Sukhavati." Amitabha is the Buddha of Boundless Light. His Buddhafield in the West is called Dewachen, or Sukhavati in Sanskrit. Amitabha is known as one of the most compassionate Buddhas, because he promised that those who merely said his name at the time of death would be reborn in Dewachen. It is traditional to engage in the practice of Amitabha in preparation for the process of dying and on behalf of those who have died.

In 2011, students of H.E Garchen Rinpoche gathered together across borders, cultures, continents and languages to complete an impressive 100-million recitation of the mantra of Buddha Amitabha. H.E Garchen Rinpoche had written the instructions of this sadhana specifically for this event which was based in Singapore.

The Drikung Kagyu Five-fold Mahamudra includes both the “common” preliminaries of the Four Thoughts that turn the mind toward the dharma regarding the preciousness of human life, impermanence, the infallibility of cause-and-effect, and the deficiencies of samsara and the Four Foundations of refuge, purification, mandala offering, and guru yoga.

All five aspects essential to the “five-fold” path are covered in this series of practices: the development of bodhicitta, deity yoga, guru yoga, and dedication.

Refined Drop of Immortality: A Longevity Mandala Practice of Arya Tara, the Wish-Granting Chakra

Available in Tibetan-English-Chinese. Horizontal laid, spiral bound, dimension measures 11” by 5.9”.

Known as the Mother of All Buddhas, the Swift Liberator, the Savioress, or She Who Protects From All Perils, Tara is the essence of Dharma. She embodies the wisdom of all Buddhas--the primordially enlightened mind--and fearlessly leaps into action with the love of a mother for her only child.

When H.E Garchen Rinpoche was in prison, he prayed to Tara continuously for protection and guidance. She is his yidam, his main deity, and as such he is never separate from her mantra. Because the benefits of practicing Tara are so profound for oneself and others, Rinpoche highly recommends that all of his students engage in Tara practice.

The sadhana used in these inspiring and joyous teachings was written by the previous incarnation of H.E Garchen Rinpoche after seeing a vision of White Tara.

In this practice, one visualizes one's essential nature in the form of White Tara and recites her mantra. White Tara is associated with healing and long life, and by practicing White Tara one can attain health and longevity as well as the ultimate attainment, Buddhahood.

Tara is the basis of the manifestation of all female deities, and she vowed to attain enlightenment in female form and continuously manifest to protect beings from fears of cyclic existence. Just hearing her name with devotion frees one from the eight or sixteen fears.

Practicing her meditation and reciting her mantras dispels all obstacles. One will be born in Dewachen, the blissful pure land of Buddha Amitabha. At the end of this sadhana is a “Supplication Prayer to the Twenty-One Taras” and "Supplication Prayer to Tara, the Seven Protectors."

The 7 line prayer was said to be composed during the time when Lord Jigten Sumgon was staying at Echung cave. Having attained Buddhahood, he had a vision of the seven Taras. At that time he made this supplication prayer that has manifold magnificent blessings.
