He was recognized by H.H the 37th Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche and was officially enthroned in the year 1992 at Jangchubling Monastery as the reincarnation of Siddha Gar Chimi Dorjee who was a great practitioner and an embodiment of the Avalokiteshvara (the Buddha of Compassion).

After the accomplishment of his practice, he went on to conduct many Retreats on the 100 Million Mani Mantra (Mani-Dung-Drub) recitation for the people, demonstrating his loving kindness and compassion towards the welfare of all sentient beings.

After his parinirvana, through his great aspiration, he again took rebirth as Chimi Dorjee in India. His mother is Kunsang Choedon and his father is Jamyang Dakpa. Chimi Dorjee Rinpoche completed his basic monastic education from the Jangchubling Monastery, Dehra Dun, India. Growing up in this modern era, he expresses openness and interest towards the problems faced by modern day practitioners. This, together with his kind and gentle heart as well as his sharp intelligence, makes him an exceptionally gifted teacher for the modern world.
