SIX BARDO TEACHINGS

Held at Drigar Thubten Dargye Ling on 20, 24, 25 & 26 Aug 2012, HE Garchen Rinpoche’s teachings on the bardo explained the processes of death and rebirth in terms of the six most important stages.

On the evening of the 26th, we had a grand dinner with HE Garchen Rinpoche at the Lotus Restaurant. Rinpoche gave a teaching on love and compassion. Everyone was laughing together on this delightful occasion. Then we took a chartered bus to the airport, where Rinpoche tirelessly received us, and then everyone cried when he got on the plane.

ANNIVERSARY OF LORD JIGTEN SUMGON’S PARINIRVANA

The glorious lineage of Drikung Kagyu was founded over 800 years ago by Lord Kyobpa Jigten Sumgon, who is the embodiment of the Buddhas of the Three Times, and who is a reincarnation of Arya Najarjuna. This was our 4th year to commemorate the anniversary.

The centre held the anniversary prayer session including the Lama Chopa Tsok Offering. Through these  and other practices, we requested blessings from our precious lineage founder.

VESAK DAY CELEBRATION

One of the most important days in the Buddhist tradition is Vesak Day, which marks the anniversary of Buddha Shakyamuni's birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana. For Buddhists this day is a “multiplier” day, one on which merits are multiplied by one hundred thousand times. Disciples performed the ritual of showering Prince Siddhartha, and they make lamp and flower offerings. We also practiced the “Confession of Downfalls to the Thirty-Five Buddhas” ritual, which purifies defilements.

CELEBRATION OF HIS EMINENCE GARCHEN RINPOCHE’S 75th BIRTHDAY

The line of Garchen incarnations originated from Siddha Gar Chodingpa, the heart son of Drikung Kyobpa Jigten Sumgon.
On this special day we celebrate the birthday of H.E Garchen Rinpoche with Guru Yoga practice and lamp offering. All merits were offered to our precious teacher to wish for his long life and to express our gratitude for his kindness to all sentient beings. On this day in 1936 Garchen Rinpoche took birth in samsara for the benefit of all, and we are most thankful. It is richly meritorious to appreciate teachers fully in this way, and we enjoy the chance to make our teacher happy.
